Happy Nowhere is Birmingham, Alabama’s only professional sketch comedy group and has been performing since May 2002. Head Writer/Manager, Brad C. Hodson and Producer/Director, Shannon Neil Hodson, who both also write for and perform with Happy Nowhere, founded the group. Each had been performing improv comedy, Brad in Knoxville, Tennessee and Shannon in Birmingham, but were eager for a change to scripted material. Brad moved to Birmingham in January 2002, and their search began for other actors and writers to complete the group, as well as the right venue for their show. The group has found a home performing regularly at WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, and they also take their show on the road.
